Home vs Shepherds Bush Raiders - 3:4-27:12 / 22-174
Exactly the team you want to be playing on the first game of the new season! With several debuts for the team, and a few guys playing their first or second game ever, why did we have to draw the bloomin' Raiders first. The scoreline was pretty reflective of the game, but it didn't show the effort and heart put into the game by a determined, if outclassed Roos line-up. Highlights were a couple of goals from new signing Jade and Anthony's bounces in his first ever game.

Home vs Hammersmith & Fulham Magpies - 14:9-12:7 / 93-79
After last week's mauling, the guys were more than up for taking the first win of the season, and set about it in determined fashion. Some great play out of the middle from Jules, Aaron and Jade set up numerous opportunities for Phil and Whits up top, hitting some great leads. With the seconds ticking down and a resurgent Magpies side hitting 5 unanswered goals, things were looking grim, but the lads struck back with 3 on the trot to seal a fantastic first win.

Away vs London Swans - 12:14-9:12 / 86-66
Full of beans, the team welcomed back Big Ted and Andy "Wrecking Ball" Craig into the line-up for a fixture against a Swans side on good form. The two great wins from last season were not to be repeated though, as lackluster tackling saw the Roos go down by 3 goals. Also concerning were the 4 injuries picked up to key position players, and some serious lessons were learned after too many opportunities were allowed to the Swans. Good game up top from Whits, and Swanny at the back.

Away vs Clapham Demons - forfeited
A disappointing weekend, as the next big test for the team had to be forfeited due to lack of players. Every now and then, you get a freak weekend where everyone is away, but unlike the London clubs, the Roos just don't have the numbers to cover when almost 20 people are unavailable. Ah, the joys of running amateur sports clubs!

Home vs London Swans - 8:4-5:5 / 52-35
The first game at Kings Meadow this season saw a determined Roos side defeat the Swans in a low-scoring, scrappy, but hard-fought match. Great to be back on the home soil, probably one of the best ovals in the country, even with the ever-present flooding reducing play area! While the play could have been tidier, again the heart and effort could not be faulted. Great game from Mick in the middle and Blackie in his first game for the season, obviously enjoying a sport where he is finally allowed to grind people into the floor.

Away vs North London Lions - forfeited
A body blow after the good form of last week, the Roos were again hit by injuries and absences and could not field a full team against a Lions side not enjoying their start to the season. A scratch match was played, and thanks to all the Lion's players for taking their turns in the Roo's line-up. Highlights were definitely Steve's haircut and Timmy's two goals from the forward flank!
